Sorted thanks my fault as not looking at the correct coding I think I need my glasses changing.

There is a person on the forum who is causing problems and is finding out peoples login name / E-mail address and using the forget password function. By removing the button it will stop and people can contact the administrator if they have problems or needs the password re-setting.

Thanks again you have been a great help.

I take it that they are never on the same ip as well what you can do is next time they do this is get a copy of what they are doing from the forum log then also get the same info from the server log then goto http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/
to find out there isp then make a malicious/fraudulent activity report to there isp
see this link http://www.managingcommunities.com/2008/01/29/when-to-report-someone-to-their-is... if the isp don't look to be doing anything there are more items you can do in the uk to get the isp to sort him out.

If this person is that sneaky, you'll probably want to edit sub reminder as well. They probably have it directly bookmarked.

Let me look at the code again.  We're trying to comment out that button.

And the code that creates the Password reminder button is this
Code
Select All
					<span style="float: left; width: 27%; text-align: right; margin-bottom: 5px;">
						&nbsp;<br />
                                    <input type="button" value="$loginout_txt{'315'}" style="width: 160px;$hide_passbutton" onclick="location.href='$scripturl?action=reminder'" tabindex="5" class="button" />
                              </span>

so change it to
Code
Select All
					<!--<span style="float: left; width: 27%; text-align: right; margin-bottom: 5px;">
						&nbsp;<br />
                                    <input type="button" value="$loginout_txt{'315'}" style="width: 160px;$hide_passbutton" onclick="location.href='$scripturl?action=reminder'" tabindex="5" class="button" />
                              </span>-->

However, it won't keep people who have the direct URL to the reminder screen from accessing that screen. To do that, Find
Code
Select All
sub Reminder

There is straight html in that subroutine that you can edit. (Be careful as you can break the script.) But you can edit the password reminder screen to remove the submit button and the fields and add a message like: 'Contact the admin by email if you need your password reset.'

(I'm assuming that spammers are inundating that function.)

Also, that file doesn't have a shebang at the top so doesn't need to be 755, 644 or 666 should do it. (And be careful of capitalization - on *nix systems, loginout.pl is NOT the same as LogInOut.pl)

I have removed the code from the source/logInOut.pl file uploaded and Chmod to 755 and nothing seems to have happened. I am changing the right file?

In LogInOut.pl find
Code
Select All
					<span style="float: left; width: 27%; text-align: right; margin-bottom: 5px;">
						&nbsp;<br />
                                    <input type="button" value="$loginout_txt{'315'}" style="width: 160px;$hide_passbutton" onclick="location.href='$scripturl?action=reminder'" tabindex="5" class="button" />
                              </span>

and comment it out (it's html so use '<!--' '-->')
