What has changed on your server? I assume you've been able to run this before?

Re: PLease Help -members Hist
What the error is saying (I think) is that file can't be properly created  to hold some of the necessary data YaBB needs to keep track of during the rebuild process (or if it's been created it can't opened to be read from).

That could be a folder ownership/permissions issue, a corruption in Admin/Maintenance.pl or something else entirely - which is why I asked about server/host changes and if you'd run that function without problems before.

Re: PLease Help -members Hist
You can try replacing Maintenance.pl with a fresh copy from the distro or a backup.

There are two spots in Maintenance.pl that open that file and can throw the same error. One creates the file and one writes the data to it. Since the script is failing before the file can be removed by YaBB, is it even being created? If so, try deleting the file and see it it throws the same error.

In any case, assuming this isn't a case where Maintenance.pl has gotten corrupted, we're still looking at a change of some sort on the server - most likely folder/file permissions and ownership.

Re: PLease Help -members Hist
I found the file in sources & replaced it, no different !.
I then replaced the whole sources folder, still no change.

Funny thing is, all other maintenance items work, just not the rebuild members history.

Someone must know...

Re: PLease Help -members Hist
In that case you may be looking at something wrong with one of the existing member .rlog files that's keeping that 'storage' file from being opened to be written to or read from (don't know which open call is the culprit since they throw the same error).

same as

That could be a folder ownership/permissions issue

ftp into your site and see if topiccalc.txt.rebuild is there if yes
check the CHMOD of the file
if not then make the file and set the CHMOD to 644 and then run rebuild the members history

you can also try and setup a new Yabb 2.2.1 in a new dir from your main forum and run rebuild the members history
if you still have
Error: Unable to open ./Messages/topiccalc.txt.rebuild
Verbose:

then post back and will see what more we can do for you.

Re: PLease Help -members Hist
the file /cgi-bin/yabb2/Messages/topicrest.txt.rebuild was there with items in it
but no topiccalc.txt.rebuild so uploaded a test 2.2.1 forum and that was good so when back to /cgi-bin/yabb2/Messages/topicrest.txt.rebuild and Deleted it and I am now running rebuild the members history for you as of just now.
Quote:
To prevent server time-out due to the amount of data, rebuilding is split into multiple steps.
1 step ~ 30 second

Topic found: 4964
Topic remaining: 4777

Run time: 00:07:26
Time remaining: 03:09:53

Converting - please wait!

and all is looking good

I also noted that the server you are on is running slow and may want to ask your host about it.

will update this post on completion of rebuild the members history.
