I have modified the Admin Test server so it should 'in theory' support virtually all YaBB features in Perl regardless of OS or version. What has been learned is of great value and has been documented.

I'm going to take it off-line & do a hardware level backup, so it can/could be rebuilt (without yours truly re--doing all that ugly work).

Thanks

Cool

During the next 24 Hrs, we are going to update both the Beta servers with YaBB 2.6.1479. There is about a 95+% chance this is the final build other than changing/updating SVN.

We will be asking people to test several features that have been completely re-worked, i.e. they are effectively NEW.

These are registration, password retrieval and Time Zone adjustments.

Time Zone will come in two flavors:

Flavor Vanilla (works when a server does not have the DateTime Perl Module):
Much like our 'old' version -  the server can work on UTC or 'localtime'.
The Admin can adjust 'localtime' in a dialog box. This fixes the DST adjustment that never worked correctly, and relies on the Admin to stay current on what 'localtime' is.

Flavor MochoChocoMint (works when a server DOES have the TimeDate Perl Module installed [and it is up-to-date])
The admin can set a default TimeZone for the server itself from a drop-down list. This is the time that will be displayed to Guests or anyone who does not make an adjustment to Time Zone in their User Control Panel.
Note UTC is also a choice in the drop-down system.

  • A. NO MATTER WHICH you choose YaBB will keep all internal data in UTC (epoch) Time Format.
    B. Neither of these choices affect Server Time Correction (fixes consistently, slightly off server time clocks -- as we had with UK2 Hosting)

OTAY???

You and your team are doing a great job! Smiley

As a reminder about YaBB's codex, the bad links for the language icons cause the page to render improperly in Firefox (one has to scroll sideways to read everything). It's an easy fix; just wanted to remind you about it again.

Morning, noon, or night, have a great one!

Both Community & Codex working right on Admin test. The Codex cleanup can start soon.

We will differentiate their templates later to avoid confusion.

The Basic Beta test is patched

Remember
Basic Beta - NO TimeDate == Works much like old YaBB, adjust time
Admin Test - with TimeDate == Admin set a Locale/TZ and so can Members. YaBB does all the fixes.

@ RonS2 - Its OK to use Admin Test now.  Sorry, I ran into a new problem when finishing all the Perl fixes. I installed clean from source on Admin Test, and hit a minor bump in the road (fixed now).

I will put the latest patches on later.
